“You don’t have to change that much for it to make a great deal of difference. A few simple disciplines can have a major impact on how your life works out in the next 90 days, let alone in the next 12 months or the next 3 years.” –Jim Rohn

The Give a Little Get a Lot Support Group was formed in 2007 by the inspiration of friends and my personal trainer. My personal trainer is also my mentor in life; he is my constant support and motivation in the thick times and the thin times.

I lost an astonishing 40 pounds in less than a year with lifestyle modification and exercise. I exceeded my initial weight loss target of 20 pounds. I have successfully kept the weight off for over 5 years by following simple strategies to accomplish my goals.

Winning my battle with the bulge changed my outlook on life for the better. With every pound shredded I gained an ounce of self esteem, this changed the way I did everything. I developed the courage I needed to live a life by design – my best life.

Filling that need within me to give back needed support to friends and colleagues I created an online support group for individuals in search of healthier lifestyle habits.

The Give a Little Get a Lot Support Group is a healthy lifestyle oriented group consisting of persons of common interests in striving for a better life experience.  With a strong desire to build on the opportunities and knowledge given to me, this group was created to help my friends achieve their goals whist becoming another’s strength and motivation in times of need. I am a strong believer that “Greatness happens when people get together and pool their strengths and resources for each others benefit”.

Over the years my weight loss goals have been replaced with fitness goals. Getting fit and increasing fitness levels are just as challenging as weight loss. They both consist of awareness, commitment and persistence.

Getting fit, staying fit or losing weight in general can become challenging especially when you add children and wifely duties to the mix. That’s why it is vital for us to find balance in life so our responsibilities are met and we still have enough time to invest in our selves mentally and physically.

Just as pregnancy inspires some women to eat more healthily; motherhood provides an opportunity to eat well and take better care of our physical bodies. We all need to find our inspiration to change how we eat for good.

Creating weight loss and fitness goals are easy; the challenge originates when we are misinformed, unaware of what weight is and how it is lost and we fail to give that unwavering persistence needed for accomplishing these goals.

Physical health and fitness can be achieved with minimal effort once there is a resolute determination to be our best, awareness of healthy lifestyle choices, an effective system of routines (healthy lifestyle habits) that is supported by a balanced life and persistence is maintained.

Setting realistic goals is vital; do not expect rapid weight loss, diets that produce this does it unhealthily. Work toward a 2 pound maximum weekly weight loss, losing more would cause you to lose precious muscle mass and not fat. Loss of muscle decreases your ability to burn excess fat.
